Evaluations

A speech and language evaluation is the first step in understanding your child’s communication skills and determining whether speech therapy may be beneficial.

Evaluations are typically completed in one, 60–90 minute session and may include:

  • A conversation about your child’s communication, development, and your concerns

  • Parent or caregiver input

  • Clinical observation

  • Formal and/or informal assessments

After the evaluation, we’ll discuss your child’s strengths, areas where support may be helpful, and recommendations for next steps. If therapy is recommended, the results will help guide an individualized treatment plan based on your child’s needs and your family’s priorities.
